This was posted in another thread, it's such a lovely post that I think everyone should see it. Great idea for us all, no matter where we are, to get the message out there until we are unstoppable!!

Hi guys my name is Linda and this is my first post on the forum.
I am a Melbourne girl who started following the OMS program 10 years ago when I was diagnosed with MS. After not being able to move off a couch for the first 3 months after diagnosis, and working hard and making lots of lifestyle changes, I have been relapse free and well ever since. I moved to London about 5 years ago to be with my English husband and we have a 4 year old son and an 11 week old daughter!
After having an epiphany and discovering that there wasn’t much awareness about a holistic approach to MS management about a year ago, I decided to start spreading the word about OMS here in the UK. I started by contacting the MS Society. After a year of building up a relationship with them, they invited us to host an OMS stand at their MS Life Event in Manchester earlier this year. This was a huge step for us as about 3,000 people with MS attended the weekend event. Many were extremely grateful for our optimistic message and very interested in the approach.
In addition the MS Trust (an organisation who do much of the training for MS Nurses in the UK) have been very supportive right from the start. We also had a stand at their conference for Health Practitioners in November last year. Our stand was the busiest by far and most of the Health Practitioners were so relieved to get the information that we provided, to be able to help empower their patients.
Next July we will be holding the first OMS retreat in the UK run by Professor Jelinek. The places filled up after only a few days of contacting those who had already expressed their interest. And for those who miss out, we will be holding a One-day Event (also run by George) straight after the retreat and hope to have a few hundred people attend.
A few months ago we set up an OMS-UK registered charity. We will be fundraising to promote and increase the awareness of OMS in the UK as well as to further research into the benefits of the OMS approach.
As you may have heard, about a month ago Gary McMahon joined us as the CEO of OMS-UK and he brings his wealth of expertise (having been CEO of the Auckland MS Society for 9 years) with him. It is a really exciting time for us as we put together a 5-year strategy of where we would like OMS to be by 2018. One of the many things we are working towards is that every newly diagnosed person with MS, receives a copy of the OMS book.
So that’s a bit of a run down of what’s been happening over here. It all started similarly with an idea that everyone diagnosed with MS need to know about this stuff. Perhaps your group and other like-minded people can start or continue the ball rolling in Melbourne & Oz until we are truly global!
